Where the city meets the river...

“And if you leave God’s paths and go astray, you will hear a voice behind you say, ‘No, this is the way; walk here’” (Isaiah 30:21, The Living Bible).

I cite this verse not because I feel I have gone the wrong way or anything, but just more reassurance that if I do go away from the direction of God, He will show me where He wants me. This is a good reminder as I feel Perth is the place where God wants me because He has not shown me otherwise.

On Perth, I want to show you some shots I took of Elizabeth Quay. It is a waterfront precinct that connects downtown Perth to Swan River. It is absolutely gorgeous during the day, as well as at night.

Truthfully, I have been a few times. Once with a friend from Germany who left in December… and then recently with a girl from South Korea, who also left a few weeks ago. So that’s kind of my life here—I meet great people who are from all over the world, and yet they are constantly leaving.

So I could just use prayer for that. It’s great to meet people from all over, but it’s hard for them to constantly be changing or moving on to a new place. I am truly starting to feel at home recently (took about 9 months), but friends are not here for very long.

I now have some areas of praise. A few weeks ago, my eye was very itchy at night—so much so I couldn’t get to sleep. So the next day I was lucky to make an eye doctor appointment, but even more lucky that with the insurance here, it only cost $3! Amazing! Thanks God.

And for more, another blessing is that my health insurance told me that for the ER bills… they decided to cover it all! (and that meant over $1,600!) I thought this was incredibly unlikely, but I am so thankful that God led them to be so kind to me.

Another thanks is that I feel I’ve gotten to know a few local “Perthians” (my own terms). I go to a church near the port city near Perth—Fremantle (similar to Savannah & Tybee Island, or Tampa & St. Petersburg) so I know a few people from there. I also know a couple people downtown that work in the stores, as well as quite a few people at Hyde Park. I even have had coffee with a few of them. It’s such a pleasure to get to know the locals!

Now for prayer requests, my fear is that if I have another seizure, I doubt my health insurance would be kind again… I think they probably would say “enough is enough.” But more or less, I am nervous just for any seizure at all (they’re not very fun… and a little scary)—so please pray I will constantly trust God for His hands through everything.

More good news is that I had an appointment with my neurologist the other week, and it went really well. My next appointment is next January so pray I won’t have to see him again before then (which I would have to if I had another seizure).

Lastly, I want prayer for a girl who was in the School of Journalism with me. She went home to Bangladesh, and she sent me this link: https://www.facebook.com/wahiduzzaman.net/videos/915833358922661/ Granted it was a while ago, but I’m sure it’s still not fun in Bangladesh, so prayer for her and her family would be great.

As stated before, please pray for me and my fear of another seizure. It’s been over 3 months since my last one, so thanks so much for your prayers! Pray I will enjoy the gifts God has given me, be truly thankful to Him and I will hold onto trust—no matter what should happen. Thank you for your care and prayer.

I would love to find out how I can pray for you in return. Feel free to shoot it my way anytime.
